Is Paris Hilton starting her own cell phone company?

by

Apparently, you can now start up your own MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operators, so basically a cell phone company that doesn’t own it’s own towers from what I can understand) for about half a mill. Paris Hold (CEO of wireless infrastructure provider Telespace) says there’s not much to get started other than having “a little star power”, which we all know Paris has.

According to Holt, there are currently about 150 MVNOs in existence. Some of the bigger, more successful ones include Virgin Mobile, Amp’d and Helio. But there are also lots of smaller players, like FaithFone, which provides church-goers with on-demand sermons and a mobile bible, and Flying J, a prepaid cellular service that caters to truck drivers. If they can pull it off, why can’t Hilton? After all, what’s half a mil to the tabloid socialite?

I figure that the phones would be really cute: pinks, purples and all bejeweled, with ringers that include “that’s hot” being uttered over and over again and a few of her songs. My concern, is that after the fiasco with a $208 bill to her storage unit would she actually pay the bills for her own company?
