Al Gore urges people to care for the planet and not Paris Hilton

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

Seriously and honestly speaking, which topic interests you more, the lives of Hollywood celebrities or finding ways and means to protect our planet?

Now we all know the sad answer to that; no words needed.

And I guess that is exactly the sentiment of former US vice-president, Al Gore when he spoke to the delegates at the United Nations Climate Change talks in Poland recently.

“The political systems of the developed world have become sclerotic. We have to overcome the paralysis that has prevented us from acting and focus clearly and unblinkingly on this crisis rather than spending so much time on OJ Simpson, Paris Hilton and Anna Nicole Smith,”
Gore named the jailed ex-All American football player, our attention-loving dear heiress, and the late sex symbol to emphasize how celebrity-obsessed this world has become and has prevented people from facing world crisis.

Gore, who’s been meeting with the US President-elect Barack Obama was also optimistic with the latter’s future leadership, saying, “Once he [Obama] is president, the US will engage vigorously in theses negotiations and help to lead the world towards a new era on global co-operation on climate change.”

Unfortunately I don’t think recognizing the fact that the world is more concerned on the lives of their idols than taking care of the planet is enough to bring change. I mean you know, in my opinion, people show more interest to Hollywood celebrities because they seem to bring a diversion to their busy and relatively boring lives.

Talking about climate change and the future of our planet seem to just bring depression to us ‘ordinary’ people.

But again, I honestly agree and believe in the former vice-president’s call.

Paris Hilton Obama job statement hit high page views

Thursday, December 11th, 2008

For almost a year blogging here in Paris Hilton Watch, my pageviews have always been in the 170-200 range. But yesterday, with my post about Paris Hilton giving thumbs up to Barack Obama’s job as president, I have reached a pageview that’s almost equivalent to 10 days of PHW posting!

And with that record-breaking post (at least here in Paris Hilton Watch), I would like to thank those who visited the site and left comments, good or bad you may say about the heiress we love to hate, a page view is a page view, right?!

Here are some of the comments for yesterday’s post:

“I am so glad PAris thinks Barrack is doing a good job, I am sure he would be heart broken if she thought he was not doing a good job…ha ha ha!!!” - Mark Drennen

“Lights are on, but nobody is home Paris. Obama hasn’t started his job yet brainiac. I’m sure its nice to be rich, beautiful and stupid.”mikepalos

“It’s great when someone as politically savy as Paris Hilton can comment on the job that President Elect Obama is “doing”. I think that when she is has reached the age of 35 or so that she should run for president. Of course, I’m not sure president of what. Like so many entertainers, she’s an airhead.” - James Scott

Oh well, I guess most of those commenters just wanted to slam Paris. Can’t blame them though. Paris seems to always have that effect on people.

Anyway, again, thank you guys. As I always mention here, I’m neither a Paris Hilton fan nor a hater, but I appreciate your efforts to read and comment on the posts here.

Paris Hilton thinks Obama is “really doing a good job”

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

The election is over and the winner has been declared. And for Paris Hilton, who has been part of the election hype with her hilarious spoof videos, president-elect Barack Obama is worth the thumbs up for his performance so far.

In an interview in Madrid, Spain for the launch of social network site Keteke.com, Paris told the reporters in Madrid what she thinks of Obama’s performance.

“I think Obama is doing a really good job. Maybe it will be my turn one day but for now let’s leave it to Obama,” Paris shares.

If we may recall, Paris launched two spoof videos in August and a music video in October ‘declaring’ her desire to run as president (and to get back at John McCain’s ad campaign).

Paris thinks best man won the elections

Monday, November 10th, 2008

With all those hullabaloos that Paris Hilton had with then Republican presidential candidate, John McCain, of course we all knew too well she’d never write down the latter’s name in her ballot.

And if it isn’t McCain, then it has to be Obama she wrote (if not her own name).

So asked about what he thinks of the new president-elect?

Our dear heiress tells People during the Los Angeles premiere of her film, Repo! The Genetic Opera that “the best man won.”

“I’m so thrilled. I love Barack and I think he’s amazing,” Paris further adds.

“The world is definitely a better place now. There’s a lot of change and a lot of hope coming. That’s a very good thing.”

And an aye for that Paris!

But had it not been for McCain’s controversial ad campaign, I doubt if Paris will be have this intense interest in the political arena.

Paris Hilton Votes

Sunday, November 9th, 2008

Proving wrong Joy Behar that she can’t vote because of her time spent on jail last year, Paris Hilton shows off that she indeed can vote and in fact votes for the latest election.

Dropping her ballot at a polling station last Tuesday (November 4) in Norwalk, California, our dear heiress was looking coy and of course proud to show that yes, she can vote!

If we may recall, Paris’ guesting at The View last September 25 has created a tension when one of its host, Joy Behar commented, “Too bad you can’t vote … because you were in the slammer. My friend was in the slammer and couldn’t vote.” To which our dear heiress answered, “I can vote.”

Well, I guess this proves it all.

The question now is who Paris wrote for president. – McCain or Obama? I am thinking she wrote down none other than, herself!

“Paris for President” music video premieres

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Probably one of my most anticipated music video this year, Paris Hilton’s “Paris for President” music video seems to have gotten me by the hook since I posted its preview last Thursday (October 23).

And yesterday (October 26), our dear heiress’ latest fake presidential campaign installment finally had its premiere at swaghouse Media.com.

What I think about it? – Hilarious!

Really, I certainly believe Paris has taken this campaign thing to the highest level. I mean, who would’ve thought that she would have gone this far?

And in all fairness, I was really smiling and giggling watching the video from start to finish. Paris sure knows how to make some parody of herself (if there is such a thing).

I just love this video!

Well if you haven’t seen the video, then here’s your chance to catch it.

Here it is:

Paris Hilton records “Paris for President” Music Video

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

From a mere way of getting back at John McCain’s controversial ad campaign,
Paris Hilton has definitely took her ‘mock presidential campaign’ quite seriously already.

With two spoof videos already, - the last one with Martin Sheen, our dear heiress has just finished recording a music video entitled, “Paris for President” taking her ‘campaign’ to the next level.

Lounge chair from Paris Hilton’s spoof video up for grab!

Sunday, October 12th, 2008

Remember the lounge chair that Paris Hilton sat on wearing a leopard-print bikini for her very first “Vote for Paris” video spoof on FunnyorDie?

Well PR-inside.com just reported that the said chair is up for grab for everybody!

Oh yes! You read that write.

Here is the article from the website:

“The lounge chair PARIS HILTON sat on to record her Paris For President 2008 spoof campaign ad has been put up for auction.

The enterprising owner of the estate where the FunnyorDie.com online ad was filmed asked the heiress to sign the white chair and now she’s offering it up to fans on auction website eBay.com for a starting price of $1,000 (£540).

The auction ends on 17 October (08) and 10 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.”

Now, are you ready to bid?!

Paris does Harper’s Bazaar Magazine November ’08 issue; talks about being ‘fake president’ and Sarah Palin

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Paris Hilton’s comedic acts continue!

Yup! After releasing her hilarious second spoof video with actor, Martin Sheen at FunnyorDie, Paris’ ‘crusade’ as ‘fake president’ continues as she does the cover for Harper’s Bazaar Magazine November 2008 issue.

In the mag, Paris talks about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the White House and her own presidential style.

Paris Hilton’s ‘political’ nature strikes again; campaigns for “Fake President” for new video spoof

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Paris Hilton’s Funny or Die spoof video last August has successfully been a talk of the town (if not the world).

The video which declares her “desire” to run for office at the same time to get back at John McCain’s controversial ad campaign seems to have been a good diversion from the heated ‘real’ presidential election in the US.

And now, after the much success of Paris’s first ‘campaign’ video (click read more below to see video), comes another one elaborating more of her fake presidential bid. This time, our dear heiress is joined by “the greatest fake President,” Martin Sheen to talk about her campaign while in the kitchen at a Hollywood party.

Paris Hilton influences Presidential Campaign 2008

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Paris Hilton indeed made noise when she countered the ad campaign of U.S. Republican presidential candidate, John McCain that featured her and Britney Spears in an ad against Barack Obama.

Others got amused, some laughed, but I definitely loved the wit in it!

Fortunately, I wasn’t the only one who enjoyed the witty spoof video that our dear heiress did. Browsing over the net, I stumbled upon this editorial article by John Diaz of San Francisco Chronicle.

Entitled “The Paris Hilton Factor in Campaign 2008,” the article delves on how the spoof video made by our dear heiress would now influence ad campaigns for this coming election.

Here’s an excerpt of that article:

Barack Obama’s daughters are so not Paris, Britney fans

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

After the Paris Hilton-John McCain video campaigns brouhaha, one would probably think that Paris would get sympathy or a fan at least in Barack Obama’s family. After all, our dear heiress indirectly gave Obama some edge over the Republican presidential candidate.

However, reports have it that the two daughters of the Democratic presidential bet actually can’t stand seeing our dear heiress and the (former) Pop Princess on TV.

In an interview, Barack shares, “Malia and Sasha are very down on Britney Spears and Paris Hilton. Malia is the first one to change (the channel) if something suddenly comes on that she thinks is inappropriate.”

He further adds, “And I don’t think we’re alone in feeling that the way the culture sexualizes young girls is a problem - that it encroaches on their childhood.”

Woooo…

Paris counters McCain ad… love it!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

John McCain’s controversial ad featuring Barack Obama, Britney Spears, and Paris Hilton may have been really effective (in a negative way) that it fired up the Hilton clan.

Recently, Paris’s mom, Kathy Hilton, expressed her opinion over the ad campaign saying it’s a “waste of the country’s time and attention.”

Now, it’s finally Paris’s turn to get back at McCain’s ad. And no, she didn’t write any furious post on her MySpace blog nor did she have an interview with the press.

Paris Hilton answers John McCain’s ad in the most ‘classy’ and wittiest way I could think of. – A funny video!

Kathy Hilton to McCain Ad: Not Funny!

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008

If most people found it quite amusing to see the ad of Republican presidential candidate, John McCain mocking Barack Obama which also featured clips of Britney Spears and Paris Hilton, Kathy Hilton’s reaction is the opposite.

While McCain attempts to inject humor into the presidential race, Paris’s mother, Kathy, believes it is but a waste of time and attention.
