Michael Jackson daughter named after Paris Hilton

Thursday, July 23rd, 2009

Michael Jackson memorial service held at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The world was introduced to her when she bravely faced the public to speak about her father in his memorial service earlier this month. We cried – I most specially – and was touched to get a glimpse of Michael Jackson in the eyes of his only daughter, Paris.

And since most of us were intrigued about Michael Jackson’s daughter, our own Paris Hilton took the initiative to ease, even for a bit, our curiosity of the first by revealing that the 12-year-old was named after her.

In an interview with Extra TV , our dear heiress shared that her family was so close to the King of Pop that the latter asked to name his daughter after her.

She revealed, “My mom and Michael went to high school together and they were best friends since they were 13,” Paris explains. “So I grew up knowing Michael very well and when he had his daughter, he always loved the name Paris and grew up being an uncle to me. So he asked my mom if it was okay and of course she said yes and I think she’s such a beautiful little girl and I’m proud we have the same name.”

Now that’s a revelation. However, don’t you think Paris sounds too patronizing of herself here? I mean, it’s not as if she’s the only Paris in the world. Sigh, Paris. It’s just so her not to miss every chance of publicity.

Then again, why don’t I just leave it for you to decide by answering the poll below.

Paris Hilton turns estranged Robert Pattinson fan

Paris Hilton attends Paris Hilton's My New BFF Season 2 - Press Conference at The Barron Hilton Estate on May 15, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.

Not that they had anything special or something akin to that but it’s quite eyebrow-rising that Paris Hilton suddenly ‘forgot’ who Robert Pattinson is. Yeah, shocking, right?!

Well the I-forgot-who-Robert Pattinson-is incident happened while our dear heiress was promoting the second season of her MTV reality show, My New BFF. Paris Hilton had some time to chitchat with the media who then asked her who she thinks is hotter between Chris Pane (Star Trek) and Robert Pattinson (Twilight). This question she answered with a simple, “Who?”.

Okay, I must be honest to be a little biased here as I do am a huge Rob Pattinson fan. But really, three months ago Paris Hilton had been so vocal about her just watching Twilight and about what she thinks about its main actor which was, Rob. She said: “I just saw Twilight last night for the first time, and I have to say that I think Rob is a beautiful man and an amazing actor. He’s fabulous!”

“Now I understand all the hype. I just didn’t get it before, but now it all makes sense. I really enjoyed the movie and loved watching Rob in it.”

I’m not really someone who’s easily annoyed to Paris Hilton’s annoying antics but sometimes it’s just hard not to roll your eyes. Moments like this makes me think Paris is just so trying to be cute. Oh well, on second thought, maybe, just maybe, this is how Doug Reinhardt affects her. The whole love struck thing may have caused her some amnesia.

20 Things You Don’t Know About Paris (Part 1)

Thursday, December 18th, 2008

With Paris Hilton’s attention-loving personality, everybody seems to think they already know everything about our dear heiress.

But guess what? In the new issue of Esquire magazine, Paris shared 20 things that people may not know about her.

Here are the first five:

1. There are definitely a lot of misconceptions about me out there. “Oh, she doesn’t work. She doesn’t do anything. She just gets money from her family.” That’s not true at all. I was up making phone calls at seven in the morning, and I’ll be working until 1:00 A.M.

2. I was the oldest granddaughter. Everyone was so excited that I was born, they would always take pictures of me. My grandma would call me Marilyn Monroe or Grace Kelly. Ever since I was little, it’s what I knew I wanted to do — be a blond icon.

3. I put pheromones in a lot of my fragrances, and that attracts people to you. My new fragrance is called Fairy Dust. I’m dressed kind of like Tinkerbell.

4. I don’t know why everyone wants to be famous. To make a living, I guess. Maybe they think it’s an easy job.

5. Once I’ve worn a dress, I can never wear it again. I give them to charities and they auction them off to help people with breast cancer, multiple sclerosis, and AIDS. Some that are really, really special, I keep in storage for my daughters. They’ll be vintage by then. I think my daughters will love them.

Surprised or not at all? Well I think the last ‘trivia’ is quite a revelation for me but I’m not surprised actually. Paris seems to really have that philanthropic side of her.

Stay tune for more of the things you don’t know about Paris.

Paris guests at Paul O’grady show

Monday, November 10th, 2008

After an intensive promotion of her latest MTV reality show, Paris Hilton’s My New BFF (now airing), Paris Hilton is back in the action promoting the British reprise of the said show in London.

Appearing at the Paul O’grady show that aired last Friday (November 7) in UK, Paris talks about the show and some updates in her life (including her love life).

Paris gushed about her boyfriend, Benji Madden, saying, “He’s actually here, he came out to surprise me.”

And if she’s having fun in London, Paris answers, “This is my favorite city in the world. I would totally live here one day; I love it here so much!”

Aside from working to shoot her show, Paris also shared that she’s been doing a lot of shopping while being the city.

On the show Paris also compared the papz in London to those in Los Angeles saying the first is worse than the latter.

Social Studies 101 for Paris

Tuesday, March 25th, 2008

paris-in-south-africa.jpg

“I love Africa in general - South Africa and West Africa, they are both great countries.?

That would probably be the most famous quote from our dear heiress, Paris Hilton, if not in Hollywood for this week.

Right after Paris and the Good Charlotte (where her beau Benji is a part) arrived in Johannesburg for the band’s world tour, the reporters asked the notorious socialite about what she thought of South Africa which she answered with the one quoted above.

Paris may have shown the dumb blonde in her for thinking West Africa is also a country like South Africa, but tell you what, I didn’t know, too. So that makes the two of us dumb now.

And while our dear heiress try to cover up that faux pas by being nice with her South African fans, I try to vindicate my ignorance by doing well with my posts here. Thank God for this blog and factors like web hosting, I am given the chance to learn and correct my mistakes, right?!

Well maybe we can all just put it as some Social Studies 101 for Paris and me. Now I know that West Africa isn’t a country but a “3 billion square mile area made up of 16 countries - Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone and Togo.?

David Letterman gets Paris to guest on his show again

Monday, February 4th, 2008

It’s actually kind of refreshing to see Paris Hilton appearing again in the David Letterman Show. Well of course after David somewhat ‘made fun’ of Paris’s being into jail for DUI, our beloved heiress refused to appear in the show again unless David apologize, which he actually did. – Pleaded and begged for the sweet girl’s pardon (now don’t take that literally).

Paris hosts dinner party at Turning Leaf Lounge

Friday, January 25th, 2008

Just this morning, I opened my email and found out that my request to do this blog has just been granted. But what’s more exciting is that I also received an email from Chairi (thanks Chairi!) of younghollywood.com giving me a link to this latest interview of Paris Hilton. Wow! Life could never get this exciting!

The video was about Paris’ hosting a dinner party in Turning Leaf Lounge to promote her upcoming movie, The Hottie and the Nottie. Paris seems to be so excited for the movie which will open in theaters in February 8. Wooooo… I have yet to see the trailer of this film. But since I just took over this blog, I might as well catch it on cinemas.

Watching through the video, I can’t seem to help myself but smile. Asked what’s the best party to go to; miss Simple Life just gave her sweetest smile and answers, “Probably my party…? I love this girl’s character!

Paris And Dave!

Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007

Here it is! The by-now infamous video of Paris being grilledinterviewed by David Letterman! Dave really pulled no punches on this one!

Paris was scheduled to appear on “Late Show With David Letterman” earlier in the summer. Unfortunately, she missed out on that appearance, due to her unfortunate jail sentence for a probation violation. She had not appeared on Dave’s show since her jail term, and Dave was quick to make up for lost time! After first asking how she was, Dave jumped right into the questions about Paris’ time in the Century Regional Detention Center in Lynnwood, CA.

“How’d you like being in jail?” he asked.

“Not too much,” Paris naturally replied.

Dave didn’t let up from there. He asked her humorous questions regarding jail food. “What would breakfast be?”

“Like a hard-boiled egg and an orange,” she said.

He then went on with questions about lunch and dinner. Paris began to kick her leg and squirm on her seat in annoyance. After cooperating for a few minutes, Paris wanted to change the subject. “I’ve moved on with my life, so I don’t really want to talk about any more,” she said.

Dave quickly replied, “This is where you and I are different, because that’s all I want to talk about!”

At one point, an audience member shouted, “I love you, Paris!” Paris replied “I love you, too!” and blew a kiss. Dave was quick to jump on this. “Is that someone you met in jail?” he asked.

Finally, after Paris’ comment that Dave was making her “sad I came,” Dave apologized and changed the subject, questioning Paris about her upcoming film “Rep! The Genetic Opera” and her new perfume.

Paris should have expected this kind of stuff from Dave. The rest of us have certainly come to expect it. After all, lots of people consider Paris’ jail term to be the most interesting thing she’s done!

Paris Lied to Larry King

Saturday, June 30th, 2007

paris-hilton-larry-king.jpg

Paris Hilton told Larry King that she had never taken drugs. Now, why would she do that? Various videos exist of Paris either doing, or talking about doing, drugs with her sister Nicky, her former boyfriend Jason Shaw, and assorted other people. For a look at some of these videos, visit The Smoking Gun.

Now, why would she lie on national TV, knowing these videos exist?

The Interview

Thursday, June 28th, 2007

paris-hilton-larry-kin.jpg

Scott Collins, of the LA Times shares his take on Paris’ interview with Larry King

Paris Hilton says she doesn’t have a drinking problem, has never taken drugs and doesn’t believe she deserved to be behind bars.

“I think the crime did not fit the punishment,” the hotel heiress told CNN’s Larry King in a taped interview that aired Wednesday night.

Hilton, whose life has become a virtual pop opera, began a quest for image rehabilitation barely 24 hours after she was released from jail in Los Angeles. She had served three weeks for driving on a suspended license following an earlier DUI offense.

ABC and NBC reportedly squared off for bidding rights to her first post-jail interview, but the networks seemed to lose interest after the monetary deal-making became public. That resulted in a promotional windfall for CNN’s “Larry King Live,” which apparently did not have to pay for the sit-down. The network’s strenuous promotion included a countdown clock that ran on “Paula Zahn Now,” the lead-in to King’s show, as well as a lengthy panel postmortem about Hilton on “Anderson Cooper 360.”

On King’s program, the 26-year-old Hilton appeared serious and guarded, speaking in a tone much lower than the breathy, baby-doll register familiar to viewers of her show “The Simple Life.” When King asked what she would like to change about herself, she said she was bothered that her voice became too high-pitched when she was nervous.

Asked why she was doing the interview, Hilton was initially flattered, calling King an “icon.” When pressed, however, she said, “I want to let people know what I went through,” adding that her three-week jail stint was “a really traumatic experience.”

She called jail food “horrible” and dubbed her strip-search “the most humiliating experience of my life.”

She was particularly distressed at not being able to hug her father on Father’s Day and confirmed reports that the mystery illness she suffered in jail — which led to an early release that a judge later reversed — was panic attacks brought on by claustrophobia.

She read King journal entries she had written behind bars that spoke of her confinement as “a turning point.”

But on crucial points, the interview was less than revealing. A spokesperson for the Hilton family has denied that they sought money for a network interview, and King did not press her about this discrepancy. She seemed caught off-guard when asked how she was able to conquer her claustrophobia after she was returned to jail (she meditated and read, she said).

Hilton was vague when asked about fellow party girls Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan, saying that some celebrities are “given too much too soon.”

And when King suggested that Hilton could have squelched some of the stories she claims are baseless rumors by denouncing them earlier, the heiress seemed nonplused.

“People make up crazy stories,” she said.

Paris’ Larry King Interview

Wednesday, June 27th, 2007

verthiltonap.jpg

Wanted to post a few thoughts on Paris’ interview on “Larry King Live” on CNN while it’s fresh in my mind.

The bottom line is that I was very unimpressed by the whole thing. First, I heard nothing that hasn’t been reported in other news outlets over the past couple of weeks. Paris talked about how her prison experience has changed her life, about how she wants to do good works and to change her image. However, she still seems very unsure about what direction her good works will take-talking about several different things like working for breast cancer, a transitional home for women getting out of prison, and several other things, but with no definite plan.

When it comes to changing her image, again, she seems to have no definite plans. And, given some of her actions-her hair appointment a few hours after her release to have extensions put back in her hair-and her answer to Larry King about something she really wanted to change in her life (according to her, the way her voice goes up when she becomes stressed or down is a primary concern for her?!)-it doesn’t sound like she’s given a lot of serious thought to actually changing a great deal.

When Larry King lobbed an unexpected question at her, like her favorite Bible passage, she floundered, seemed to be checking her notes, and then said that she didn’t have a favorite. I have to give Larry King his due her, though. He managed to make an hour interview out of brief and uninformative answers.

I think I agreed more with Anderson Cooper following the interview. He was definitely unimpressed with Paris. I was really hoping to see something substantive from Paris. I wasn’t expecting it, but I was hoping. It does seem that Paris may have a future in politics, though. She seems to have a gift for dodging questions and giving vague answers!

And Paris’ First Interview Goes To-

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

8087345.jpg

After much speculation (and fighting among the networks about whether they were willing to pay), TMZ reports that Paris Hilton’s first post-jail interview will take place on “Larry King Live” this Wednesday night. It is reported that Paris will be in-studio for the entire hour.

On Monday night, a guest-host will fill in for King, and will be talking with Richard Hutton, Paris’ lawyer, and an official from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. Set your TiVo!

Paris released this statement about her interview:

“I am thrilled that Larry King has asked me to appear on his program to discuss my experience in jail, what I have learned, how I have grown and anything else he wants to talk about. Larry King is not only a world-renown journalist, but a true American Icon. It will be an honor to do his show.”

Opposite Sides of Paris

Monday, June 18th, 2007

wwwreuterscomresourcesr.jpg

Journalist Steve Gorman has written an article on Reuters which compares the differing views of Paris Hilton that he saw during an interview set up to promote “The Simple Life” (with Paris and Nicole Richie) and his coverage of Ms. Hilton in court on the day she was sent back to jail. Here’s an interesting excerpt from the article:

The contrast between my stage-managed encounter with an immaculately groomed Hilton and her emotional day in court illustrated how thin the veneer of stardom can be.

It also reminded me of a fundamental truth of entertainment journalism — that celebrities rarely open themselves to public scrutiny unless they have something to sell.

Like the judge who sent her back to jail, I had waited two hours for Hilton to show up for my interview.

When she did appear she was perfectly turned out, sitting opposite me in a bright yellow dress on the set of a Hollywood studio looking aloof and bored.

It was a far cry from the quivering, weeping bundle of raw emotion who pleaded to be allowed to remain under house arrest rather than be forced back to jail to complete her sentence for violating probation in a drunken-driving case.

Interesting contrast. Just goes to show you how different celebrities can be when they’re not in control of the entire situation!

Paris Turning Over New Spiritual Leaf

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

normal_splashnews_pfla060407m_002.jpg

Apparently, Paris Hilton’s time in jail has really affected her. According to WCBS-TV.com, Paris feels that God has given her a new chance.

Hilton said she has a spiritual adviser who told her “my spirit or soul did not like the way I was being seen. And that is why I was sent to jail. God has released me.”

I’ll give the change a very generous six weeks after Paris gets out of jail. Actually, she probably will not manage to go that long before going back to her old habits. Maybe more like two!

Paris Talks To Barbara Walters

Monday, June 11th, 2007

ndlfkansdlkj.jpg

Poor Barbara Walters is actually proud of the fact that she snagged a jail interview with Paris Hilton! The National Ledger reports that Walters getting an interview puts her one up on Rosie O’Donnell, when it had been feared that O’Donnell would take many of “The View’s” viewers with her.

I don’t know, Barbara. I might have let Rosie have this one! Here is one of many of Paris’ amusing quotes from the interview:

“I used to act dumb … That act is no longer cute. Now, I would like to make a difference. God has given me this new chance.

In the first place, I have my doubts about Paris’ being dumb being just an act! And, if it was, it was never cute! And this stuff about wanting to make a difference? Well, we’ll see…
