When Paris Hilton was released from jail, she vowed that she would put time into charitable works. Now, it looks as though she’s set to do just that. Paris has done little or no charitable work (outside of hosting parties, which is no change from her life before jail!) since she was released. Now comes word that she will visit Rwanda, in order to bring more attention to conditions there.

Scott Lazerson of Playing for Good, an organization which attracts celebrities and wealthy business moguls to charitable giving, has personally invited Paris to Rwanda to make a difference in the lives of people affected by war and poverty. Says Paris of the visit, “There’s so much need in that area, and I feel like if I go, it will bring more attention to what people can do to help.”

Paris plans to make the trip in November, following filming of her musical-horror film, Repo!, currently filming in Toronto. With the way the paparazzi follow Paris around, a visit by her will, indeed, draw attention to the area. Let’s just hope that it’s the right kind of attention and that it will make a big difference to the lives of people in Rwanda.

In keeping with her promise to do charitable works, Paris will co-chair the amfAR AIDS benefit. amfAR Rocks will be held in September in the Puck Building in New York. The benefit will be co-chaired by luxury fashion line Rock & Republic’s Michael Ball and Andrea Bernholtz.

The event will support AIDS research. amfAR has invested $260 million dollars in its programs, and has awarded grants to more than 2000 research teams worldwide, since 1985. Other stars attending will be Thom Filicia, Tim Gunn, Cynthia Nixon, and Ted Allen.

Paris unveiled her new fashions on Thursday at Kitson’s, a trendy LA boutique known for its celebrity clientele. A lane of traffic was closed, and police and city workers were called in to help handle the crowd! Paris described her clothing line as “really comfortable” and “really affordable,” and said she spent a year submitting and approving designs.

She had the following to say about the unveiling:

“It’s a dream come true to have my own clothing line. It’s just Paris style: fun, bright and flashy. It’s just from my closet to their closets.”

Surprisingly, the pieces are more affordable than what Paris can afford to pay for clothing herself! I don’t know if very many of them are my style, though! Click below to see pictures of some of the “Paris Hilton” line, and let me know what you think.

Hollywood Today reports that our favorite heiress has joined the cast of Repo! The Genetic Opera, a campy sci-fi musical movie, directed by Darren Lynn Bousman of Saw fame!

The movie will tell the tale of a time when human organs, ravaged by the future plague, could be replaced by expensive man-made counterparts. The new organs could be paid off in installments. Just don’t get behind on your payments, or the Repo Man (or woman) will pay a gruesome visit.

According to Bousman, “I have auditioned at least 30 actresses for this role — Paris came in and owned it. She is this role.” The film also stars Paul Sorvino and Alexa Vega (Spy Kids).

I’ve liked the Saw movies, but I’m not sure I could stomach this one! Paris singing is more gore than I can take!

Life will no longer be “simple” for Paris and on again/off again pal, Nicole Richie. Their reality(?) series, The Simple Life will be ending on E! will be ending. The finale will air this Sunday, according to Yahoo News. The show debuted in 2003, and put priveleged Paris and Nicole into everyday life situations.

In the final episode, Paris and Nicole write a play about their long friendship. Celebrity counselor Sally Kirkland helps then with the production. She also plays Nicole’s dad, Lionel Richie!

So, will life be more complicted for the duo after this? Lately, it doesn’t seem as though it could be more complicated, what with both of them sentenced to jail terms! In addition, Nicole is pregnant and reported to be marrying soon. Paris has a movie musical, a new album in the works-and there’s always her promised philanthropy projects(!) to work at getting off the ground.

But, for these two, I’m sure it can always get more complicated!

Portable Planet reports that Paris, Britney Spears, and Lindsay Lohan have all picked up coveted(?) OMG! award nominations from the Teen Choice Awards. Following is the list of nominees, and their reasons for being nominated:

All Headline News(AHN) reports that Us Weekly magazine will not be featuring Paris Hilton on this week’s cover nor, indeed, even mentioning her in its pages! According to Us Weekly editor, Janice Min, Paris has been overdone and it’s time for a change.

Ms. Min is quoted as saying “When it came down to it, the staff and I felt what I believe a lot of people in America are feeling. Which is just enormous Paris fatigue.” Will Us Weekly suffer in sales. Magazine staffers don’t believe so.

Some people can’t seem to get enough of Paris, while some, apparently, have already had too much!

With CNNreporters(among others) on hand, Paris Hilton was released from the LA County Jail at 12:15 AM, Pacific Time, this morning. As expected, she was greeted by swarms of paparazzi and reporters. Apparently, she smiled and waved, but ignored questions. She was picked up by parents Kathy and Rick Hilton. CNN reports that she went to her grandparents’ home in the Benedict Canyon area of Beverly Hills.

Paris now begins her probation term, which will end in March, 2009, provided she keeps her driver’s license current, and doesn’t break the law. Ms. Hilton will give her first interview following her jail term on “Larry King Live” this Wednesday night.

We here at Paris Hilton Watch would like to wish Paris the best of luck. We hope she keeps her nose clean, and changes her life, as she has said she will do. We hope so, but-given Paris’ past performances-we’re not counting on it!

After much speculation (and fighting among the networks about whether they were willing to pay), TMZ reports that Paris Hilton’s first post-jail interview will take place on “Larry King Live” this Wednesday night. It is reported that Paris will be in-studio for the entire hour.

On Monday night, a guest-host will fill in for King, and will be talking with Richard Hutton, Paris’ lawyer, and an official from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department. Set your TiVo!

Paris released this statement about her interview:

“I am thrilled that Larry King has asked me to appear on his program to discuss my experience in jail, what I have learned, how I have grown and anything else he wants to talk about. Larry King is not only a world-renown journalist, but a true American Icon. It will be an honor to do his show.”

It’s almost here! Paris’ release date! That’s the big entertainment news over at Yahoo and everywhere else right now!

The release comes 24 days after the heiress originally turned herself in, this coming Tuesday! The exact time of her release has not been set. Ironically, on the same day, LA County sheriff, Lee Baca, is set to appear before county Board of Supervisors, who are investigating whether his release of Paris to house arrest on June 7 amounted to preferential treatment.

Actrss Archives reports that Kathy and Nicky Hilton showed up at the presentation of Barbara’s star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Guess accepting that collect call from Paris’ cell really got Ms. Walters on the good side of the Hiltons!

MTV has posted the following update on Paris’ jail plight:

Paris Hilton was reassigned Wednesday night from the medical ward at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility in Los Angeles back to the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, where she began serving her sentence last week, The Associated Press reports. A spokesperson for the L.A. County Sheriff announced Thursday (June 14) that Hilton will serve the remainder of her sentence — which he said will end June 25, 22 days after she first reported to jail — at the CRDC’s pecial-needs unit if her unspecified medical condition remains stable. Hilton, who was ordered back to jail after a brief reassignment to home confinement last week, originally received a 45-day sentence. …

You’ll pardon me if I have my doubts about the “stable” part!

TV Guide, among other sources is reporting that the Endeavor talent agency has dropped Paris Hilton as a client. Michael Donkis, a spokesman for the agency says that Ms. Hilton “is no longer a client of Endeavor,” but declined to say why.

It was reported, however, that Endeavor dropped Paris on Friday, June 8, the day she was ordered back to jail to complete her sentence. The word that the agency had dropped Ms. Hilton came a day after her announcement to Barbara Walters that she wanted to change her image and be taken more seriously.

Maybe Endeavor can’t handle a “serious” Paris Hilton? Maybe the agency thinks there’s no market for a “serious” Paris Hilton? Or maybe, like most of us, they simply doubt her sincerity?
